Hi, I’m Summer Rose, and I’m the person behind RecipeModo. This page explains what information I collect when you visit this site, why I collect it, and what choices you have. I’ve tried to write it the way I’d actually explain it to a friend, rather than burying it in legal jargon — but it’s still a complete policy that covers everything required by law.
By using RecipeModo, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
What Information I Collect
When you leave a comment. I collect your name, email address, and the comment itself, along with your IP address and browser details, to help detect spam. Your comment is kept indefinitely so I can recognize and approve your future comments automatically instead of holding them for moderation each time.
When you subscribe to my newsletter. I collect your email address so I can send you new recipes and site updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
When you use the contact form. I collect your name, email address, and message so I can reply to you.
When you simply browse the site. Like most websites, RecipeModo automatically collects some non-personal information through cookies and similar technology — your device type, browser type and version, general location, which pages you visit, and how long you spend on them. This helps me understand how people use the site and where to improve it.
Cookies
Cookies are small files placed on your device when you visit a website. RecipeModo uses two kinds:
- Session cookies — temporary, and deleted automatically once you close your browser. These help the site function properly while you’re on it.
- Persistent cookies — stay on your device after you leave, until they expire or you delete them. These remember things like whether you’ve already accepted the cookie notice, so you’re not asked every visit.
I use cookies for a few reasons: to remember your preferences, to understand site traffic through analytics tools, and to support advertising if and when ads are served on this site (see below).
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Some parts of the site may not work as smoothly if cookies are turned off.
Advertising and Google AdSense
RecipeModo may display advertisements served by Google AdSense and other third-party advertising partners. These companies may use cookies or similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites, so they can show you ads relevant to your interests.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can find more detail on how Google uses this data at Google’s Privacy & Terms page.
I don’t control third-party advertising cookies directly, so I’d recommend reviewing each partner’s own privacy policy for full detail on their practices.
Analytics
RecipeModo may use tools like Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns — which pages are popular, how visitors found the site, and general usage trends. This data is aggregated and doesn’t identify you personally. More detail is available at Google’s Privacy Policy.
How Long I Keep Your Information
I keep the information above only as long as it’s actually useful for the reasons stated — for example, comments are kept indefinitely so returning commenters aren’t held in moderation, while contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve your question. If I’m ever legally required to retain information longer (for example, to comply with a law or resolve a dispute), I will.
Where Your Information Is Processed
RecipeModo is run from Pakistan, but like most websites, I rely on third-party services — hosting, email delivery, analytics, and advertising — that may store or process data in other countries, including the United States. By using this site, you understand that your information may be transferred to, and processed in, a country other than your own, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live. I take reasonable steps to make sure any such transfer is handled securely.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data I hold about you
- Ask me to correct or delete that data
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time (via the unsubscribe link in any newsletter)
- Opt out of personalized advertising (via the Google Ads Settings link above)
To exercise any of these rights, reach out through the Contact page and I’ll do my best to respond promptly. Please note I may need to retain certain information where I have a legal obligation to do so.
When I Might Disclose Your Information
I don’t sell your personal information. I may disclose it only if:
- Required by law or a valid request from a public authority (such as a court or government agency)
- Necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of RecipeModo, its readers, or the public
- Needed to investigate or prevent suspected wrongdoing (such as spam or abuse)
Third-Party Links
Occasionally, a post on RecipeModo may link out to another website — a product I mention, a source I reference, or a related resource. Once you click through, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. I’d recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any external site you visit from a link here, since I’m not responsible for their practices.
Children’s Privacy
RecipeModo is not directed at children under the age of 13, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, please contact me and I’ll remove it promptly. If parental consent is required by law in your country before I can collect information from a minor, I will seek that consent.
Security
I take reasonable steps to protect the information collected through this site, but no method of transmission over the internet is ever 100% secure, and I can’t guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if I add a new tool, plugin, or advertising partner to the site. When I do, I’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
Questions?
If anything here isn’t clear, or you just want to ask me directly about how your information is handled, reach out through the Contact page — I read and reply to every message myself.
