Ingredients

  • 2 ounces vanilla vodka
  • ounces chocolate liqueur
  • 1 ounce Irish cream liqueur
  • ½ ounce dark crème de cacao
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup plus extra for decorating the glass
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder, for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring glass
  • Chilled martini glass
  • Small spoon or squeeze bottle for chocolate syrup

Method

  1. Chill the martini glass in the freezer for about 15 minutes.
  2. Drizzle chocolate syrup inside the chilled glass.
  3. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  4. Add the vanilla vodka, chocolate liqueur, Irish cream, crème de cacao, and chocolate syrup.
  5. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds until the shaker feels frosty.
  6. Strain into the prepared martini glass.
  7. Garnish with chocolate shavings or a light dusting of cocoa powder.
  8. Serve immediately while ice cold.

Notes

Make the alcohol mixture up to 24 hours ahead, then shake with fresh ice just before serving.
Regular vodka can replace vanilla vodka using a 1:1 ratio.
Best enjoyed immediately, but leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days in a sealed container.
Taste your chocolate liqueur brand before mixing a full batch — sweetness varies more between brands than you'd expect, and it's easier to adjust the syrup up front than after shaking.
